INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Murdock LLC — has partnered with private lending community, The Halo App, and Indy Black Chamber 501(c)(3) this week to announce the “Make It Make $ense” campaign, a new zero-interest fund benefiting Hoosiers during the holiday season.

To qualify, borrowers must attend 1 of 3 Welcome Calls: Friday, December 4 at 6:30p ET, Saturday, December 5 at 3:30p ET, or Sunday, December 6 at 9:30a ET.

The holiday season is when payday lenders make the most money, preying on those who need a little help. Taking out just a $300 loan could cost a borrower over $1000. “This money could be a new coat for a child,” Anthony Murdock, Founder of Murdock LLC stated.

“This money could be a new coat for a child.”

Nearly 80% of Americans have financial stress during the Christmas season, according to a 2018 Credit Karma survey — and there are lenders that market loans for the holidays specifically. But a holiday loan can come with a hefty price tag.

In April, Murdock and team launched the “Make It Make $ense” campaign, a fundraising effort to raise $5000 for Black-owned businesses in Indianapolis. Now, Murdock is setting his sights on zero-interest loans for the holiday season, and getting some serious backing. “The Halo App gave our community a [credit card] that’s fully backed by social capital. This is a company that puts people before profit, relationships before revenue, and families before loan fees. It’s with your investment into the Halo economy that you can provide a more fruitful future to the most marginalized of families this holiday season— Make it Make $ense with us.” Murdock responded when asked why people should support this movement.

Taylor Simpson, CEO of The Halo App, hopes that they can gain community support to increase the size of this fund. “A $10 donation allows us to support more borrowers with loans outside of payday loans. We are putting money back into the pockets of families, communities, and local economies,” Simpson announced, “Now that’s jump-starting the economy!”

The ultimate goal for the group is to reach everyone who truly needs a zero-interest loan this holiday season, even if it means finding Backers and sponsors for $1 Million in zero-interest loans before the year is over and this team of innovators believes it is possible. “We’d love your support. Whether you: need money, want to loan money to someone, or want to donate to our cause we want you as part of this movement. Yes, it’s Giving Tuesday, so let’s actively work to eliminate predatory systems like payday loans.”

About The Halo App

The Halo App is a private, lending community that connects Borrowers with Backers (people), instead of payday lenders, for loans up to $1,000.

The Halo App recently launched the $9 billion dollar movement. This is the amount payday loans take from communities across America every year — and that number is continuing to rise. We built a technology that allows for p2p lending for loans up to $1,000 to happen within communities across the globe.
